The partnership hopes to enhance the growth of digital payments and promote the government’s Digital India vision
Airtel Payments Bank has entered into a partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). As per the agreement, all 14,000 HPCL fuel service stations will act as banking points for Airtel Payments Bank providing Airtel Payments Bank customers access to a range of convenient banking services at the 14,000 fuel stations like opening new accounts, making cash deposits as well as withdrawals facility, and transfer money.
Shashi Arora, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Payments Bank, said “We are delighted to partner HPCL as part of our endeavor to build a robust and diverse merchant ecosystem that brings more digital payments avenues to our customers. We are, in particular, pleased to have these fuel outlets as our banking points."
The partnership is anticipated to add to the growth of digital payments in the country and contribute to the government’s Digital India vision.
Smartphones (MyAirtel App) as well as feature phones (USSD) can be used to make cashless payments and the customer is not charged any transaction fee for the digital payments.
