The participation of key Malaysian Government Departments concerned with the fuels market was a key factor for the success of the 1st Fuel Retail Conference in Asia.
This was only achieved by a combination of factors that included the support of key local players : oil companies, key distributors-suppliers and the official license dealer organisations. Malaysian Government Depts representation included: Secretary Tax Division, Dept of Treasury, Malaysian Competition Authority, National Metrology Institure, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Malaysian Automotive Institute, Dept of Environment, and the Dept of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
There were also represntatives from the task group who are responsible for the "Preparation of Fuel Deregulation" in Malaysia. During the 1st day of the PetrolWorld event, there was a private meeting held between Government executives and the international experts panel. This was moderated by David Egan from PetrolWorld.
The Philippine Dept of Energy was represented by Mr Renante Sevilla who also presented on Day 1. The European Union was represented by Mr Paul Turner, Head of Metrology at the National Standards Association of Ireland who spoke about European Union regulation implementation on fuel dispensers.
The 1st Asia Fuel Retail Conference is part of a three year programme in South East Asia. It is expected that the programme will enhance a number of local initiatives in the region as well as creat an important new international platform for the industry in Asia. PW070717
