Nigeria: Three-Day Strike Called by Oil and Gas Union

pengassan_logo.gifThe Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has announced a three-day nationwide strike after its grievances regarding allegedly unfair labour practices and anti-union activities by its members went unanswered by government agencies. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria listed a total of 16 complaints that its members had made in its petition to the Minister of Labour and Productivity. 


UAE: Credit Card Payment for Petrol Approved in Dubai

The Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection of the United Arab Emirates has approved a request from fuel marketers to accept credit card payments. The renewed availability of the payment method, announced by Undersecretary at the Ministry of the Economy Mohammed Al Shehhi (pictured), is subject to a Dh2 commission charge on each transaction.


Saudi Arabia: Oil Minister Calls for Downstream Focus

Audi Arabia's Oil Minister has said that the country must reduce its reliance on exporting crude oil and develop its downstream sector to protect against market volatility. Speaking at a downstream industry conference, Ali al Naimi (pictured) said that substantial shifts in oil prices meant that the commodity cannot provide sustainable national income - even for the world's top crude exporter.
