Australia: Viva Energy Arrives At Avalon Airport

The Viva Energy brand and products, over a space of two months are being introduced at more than 50 airports across Australia including Avalon Airport, where Viva Energy is the exclusive supplier of jet fuel.

Two new Viva Energy aviation products will include this launch at Avalon Airport which are: Fuel2Sky card – A card to enable customers to refuel more easily and faster; Jet Plus – Viva Energy’s addivated jet fuel designed to eliminate problems associated with the build-up of water in fuel tanks.

Viva Energy CEO, Scott Wyatt said, “Viva Energy is excited to expand its aviation business at more than 50 airports around Australia following the acquisition of the Aviation business from Shell in 2017. This investment in our aviation business further demonstrates our commitment to growing our business in Australia and supporting our valued airline customers.”

With a presence at 52 airports and airfields across the country, Viva Energy manufactures high quality aviation fuels at the Geelong Refinery and is Australia’s largest supplier of jet fuel by volume. Accounting for about 10% of all their refinery’s production, Geelong Refinery produces 100% of Avalon Airport’s jet fuel and, every second flight out of Victoria takes off with locally supplied jet fuel. For Australian airlines and regional airports, a safe and reliable fuel supply is not only essential, but it is also an important contributor to the local economy and for local jobs.

Viva Energy has made significant infrastructure investments to ensure that they are able to provide their customers with diversity and security of supply, as demand for jet fuel continues to grow with an increase in both domestic and international air travel. To increase the amount of fuel they can transport by pipeline from their refinery at Geelong by 25%, Viva Energy has invested more than $20 million in Victoria alone, and has completed a $4 million upgrade to their fuel gantry at the refinery to enable jet fuel to be trucked directly to Avalon Airport to improve their supply chain capacity and reliability.

A new jet fuel tank is being built by Viva Energy at Newport Terminal which will nearly double the storage capacity for jet fuel at the terminal and further add to supply security for Victoria.

Sarah Henderson, the Federal Member for Corangamite, said, “Viva Energy plays a critical role in supplying jet fuel to Avalon Airport which is a major driver of economic activity for Geelong and set to be boosted further once AirAsia starts operating international services from Avalon later this year.”

The Hon Richard Marles commented that Viva Energy’s commitment to regional Victoria which includes the important aviation market was demonstrated by their significant investment at the Geelong Refinery. “Viva Energy’s ongoing investment is a vote of confidence in the growth of the region that will continue to deliver local jobs. Their investment in the Geelong Refinery and associated infrastructure projects to provide reliable fuel supply and refueling services to some of Australia’s busiest airports is good news for the region and indeed the nation.” PWKD30072018
