Ovo Mobile has inked with 7-Eleven, a distribution deal to sell its prepaid mobile and mobile broadband products across more than 600 Australian branches of the convenience store, making it the telco’s first foray into brick-and-mortar retail, having sold exclusively online since launching in 2016.
Ovo Mobile chief executive Matt Jones said, "Our partnership with 7-Eleven is all about giving the fans what they want. It's pretty exciting to now be able to offer these plans over the counter to people who can be up and running within hours of picking up one of our SIM cards at their nearest 7-Eleven store.”
Ovo's subscriber base has grown exponentially month-on-month off the back of products Ovo fans can't get anywhere else, the most recent being their new 100GB prepaid mobile broadband plan that addresses the needs of people who are unhappy with the poor performance of their fixed broadband. Jones added that, for their business, teaming up with 7-Eleven is a momentous step, giving them an Australia-wide footprint to build upon what they have achieved to-date as a pure e-commerce brand.
Calling the 7-Eleven deal a “foundation of a growing retail footprint” for its mobile prepaid and mobile broadband plans, the telco also plans to sign distribution deals in the future, with other retailers. Source: CRN PWKD10112017
