Russia: Gazprom Commences LNG Fueling Railways

Contract for 600 tons signed  with Gazprom to supply LNG for Russian Railways

The fueling of Russian Railways with liquefied natural gas (LNG) by Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo has commenced.  Through competitive bidding, contract was won to supply LNG for Russian Railways. On a regular basis, the fuel will be delivered from natural gas liquefaction facilities operated by the Gazprom Group. 600 tons is the total contracted LNG amount.

Mikhail Likhachev, Director General of Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo said, “The fueling infrastructure for the Sverdlovsk Railway system is being set up under our cooperation agreement with Russian Railways to expand the use of liquefied natural gas by rail transport. The plan is to install fueling depots along the non-electrified railroad sections.” PWKD20092017
