Sweden: Preem Advertising Campaign for Renewable Fuels

Preem has launched a new advertising campaign on renewable fuels which has Gunde Svan endorsing it.

Preem has developed a range of new products, ever since the company first launched Preem Evolution Diesel with renewable content in 2011, to cut the Swedish need for fossil fuels. The use of Preem Evolution fuel contributed to Sweden's carbon dioxide emissions by 730,000 tonnes, in 2017.

Marie Bark, Marketing Manager at Preem, said "Our work is constantly intensifying and today almost 20 percent of the fuel we sell in Sweden is renewable. The goal is for Preem 2030 to produce 3 million cubic meters of renewable fuel, which corresponds to the company's sales volume in Sweden today.

Gunde Svan, the ski and television personality is the front figure in the campaign who is also the owner of the forest. "If we have a fossil-free fleet of vehicles 2030, everyone cannot switch to electric car in 2029. It's important to work step by step. You cannot win the Olympics before winning the club championship, said Gunde Svan.

Detailing the differences between fossil and non-fossil fuels is what Preem's campaign is about, which also shows that Preem has already come a good way to produce renewable fuels.

"The campaign is about our commitment and our drive to constantly develop more renewable fuels from residual products from the Swedish forest. One example is Preem Evolution Diesel Plus, the world's only Swan-labeled diesel with at least 50 percent renewable content, and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 44 percent compared to a standard diesel, "says Ulrica Baathe, Head of Marketing Communications at Preem.
