Japan: Petrobras Removes Self From Japan Importer List

Petrobras is no longer registered to import oil products into Japan, according to the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The Brazilian oil producer's removal from the list comes after it requested to be taken off at the end of February, following the expiration of its two-year lease on three oil storage tanks at the Nishihara refinery. The lease, which ran until the end of December, was taken out on tanks with a capacity 100,000 kilolitres, which will now come under the ownership of its operator, Nansei Sekiyu. 


Argentina: Government Determined to Take Control of YPF - Report

The administration of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (pictured) has decided to take control of Repsol-controlled YPF, according to pro-Government newspaper Pagina 12, and is currently discussing whether to nationalise the firm outright or intervene in its administration. The President has reportedly made up her mind on the need for state control of the company, which has come under growing pressure to raise its upstream production.
